First Just Green AFRH2ICA x MED-GEM Webinar: Impact of Green Hydrogen/Green E-Fuels Import from Africa to the EU on the EU Energy System

The first webinar of this series will gather all project partners and stakeholders to discuss the impact of importing green hydrogen and green e-fuels from Africa to the European Union. We will present key findings from a recent study that examined four different African Union (AU) green hydrogen import scenarios, including various combinations of import volumes, exporting regions, and transportation routes. The study aimed to understand the effects of African imports on the overall EU hydrogen strategy, the EU grid system, and the EU-AFRICAN pipelines. Key insights include the impact on EU electrolysis investment, flexibility in power systems, seasonal storage needs, and the development of hydrogen supply corridors across the European energy landscape.
