MED-GEM x RECREEE x UNIDO Webinar | Development of Green Hydrogen Valleys in the Mediterranean Region

The Mediterranean region stands at a critical juncture in its energy transition journey, seeking sustainable solutions to address climate change and foster economic development. In this context, the concept of "green hydrogen valleys" has become a symbol of optimism, offering a pathway towards a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Green hydrogen, produced through electrolysis powered by renewable energy sources like solar and wind, holds immense potential to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry, transportation, and heating. By harnessing the abundant solar irradiation and wind resources prevalent in the Mediterranean region, green hydrogen production can be scaled up to meet growing energy demands while reducing carbon emissions.

The concept of green hydrogen valleys embodies the notion of localized ecosystems where renewable energy production, hydrogen generation, and industrial applications intersect, facilitated by supportive policies, investments, and infrastructure. These valleys serve as innovation hubs, bringing together diverse stakeholders, including governments, industry players, research institutions, and communities, to collaborate on integrated energy solutions.

By strategically developing green hydrogen valleys across the Mediterranean region, countries can unlock new economic opportunities, create jobs, enhance energy security, and contribute to global climate goals.

By convening experts, industry players, and policymakers, this webinar aims to explore the potential of green hydrogen valleys to drive the energy transition in the Mediterranean region. Through insightful discussions, case studies, and collaborative exchanges, the event aspires to chart a course towards a sustainable and prosperous future for all stakeholders involved. By fostering dialogue and collaboration between UNIDO, RCREEE and MED-GEM, this initiative seeks to catalyze efforts for the development of green hydrogen valleys in the Mediterranean region, harnessing clean technologies for a resilient future.

The webinar will consist of presentations by senior expert speakers, followed by interactive panel discussions and Q&A sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and contribute their perspectives on the key topics.
