Webinar: Introduction to Long Duration Energy Storage, a crucial enabler of the energy transition
Long Duration Energy Storange (LDES) Council, Dii Desert Energy and MED-GEM are delighted to welcome your participation in the online webinar ‘Introduction to Long Duration Energy Storage, a crucial enabler of the energy transition’ on December 9th, 2024 from 14:00 CET to 15:30 CET.
Long Duration Energy Storage or LDES is crucial to connect the increasing supply of variable renewable energy with demand. Defined as technologies that store energy across diverse technology applications for more than 8 hours, the LDES potential is massive: the world’s electricity grids will need to deploy 8 TW of long duration energy storage by 2040 with a market potential of USD 4 trillion.
This interactive seminar will provide valuable insights in:
- The basics: What technologies are being developed and offered.
- The business case: Techno-economics of LDES applications.
- The regulatory regime: What is required to create a vibrant market for LDES.
- Case studies: Examples of best practices, where does LDES make sense and why.
