Morocco advances on renewable electricity certification

Morocco is taking an important step forward in building a credible and transparent renewable electricity market.

In this context, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development has launched a Call for Expressions of Interest for the establishment of a national register of Certificates of Origin for renewable electricity.

This strategic initiative will enhance transparency, ensure traceability, reinforce market confidence, and strengthen the credibility of renewable energy production, key conditions for scaling clean energy markets and enabling international trade.

Funded by the European Union, the MED-GEM Network is proud to have contributed, in collaboration with GiZ Morocco, to this milestone through sustained technical expertise and policy support. Building on this engagement, the Network encourages stakeholders with relevant expertise to respond to this call and support the operationalisation of Morocco’s certification framework.
